Q1
What kinds of projects are eligible/ineligible for receiving support from JCCME?
A1
JCCME decides on supporting projects based on the METI guidelines on implementation of subsidized programs. The judging criteria are as follows.
①
The project must be a new initiative by a Japanese company investing in any of the MENA countries. Due diligence will be conducted for additional investments aligned with business expansion. Import and export businesses are out of scope.
②
Feasibility studies for commercialization that are necessary for a Japanese company to assess investment viability, including step-by-step assessments with multiple feasibility tests if needed, as well as small-scale demonstration tests and research and development, are within the scope.
③
Our support for human resource development initiatives will be provided when more than half of the trainees are from the target investment country.
④
Our support will not be provided for initiatives regarding investments in Japan.
Q2
Are the JCCME’s support schemes available for anyone?
A1
①
The objective of JCCME’s support is to respond to the demand from the MENA countries for direct investments and technology transfers by Japanese companies and organizations. Therefore, our support schemes (METI-subsidized investment promotion activities targeting the Middle East oil and gas producing countries) will be available only for Japanese companies and organizations considering market entry into the region.
②
The above schemes are also available for non-supporting member companies and organizations of JCCME.
③
Applications for the schemes are accepted at any time. Please note that the duration of each scheme ends at the end of the fiscal year (from April 1 to March 31) and its business and accounting reports must be submitted accordingly.
④
Contact us prior to the submission of an application as we will inform each applicant of the necessary processes of JCCME’s screening and METI’s approval.
